Fluorite- Harvest Pocket, Lady Annabella, County Durham, UK
Fluorite- Harvest Pocket, Lady Annabella, County Durham, UK
Size: 8.5 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm
Note: This specimen has substantial shear and internal cleavage.
The Harvest Pocket constitutes another compact cavity segment within The Bull Vein, drawing its name from the autumnal hues discovered within its confines.
Within this pocket, translucent straw-yellow and lemon cubic Fluorite crystals emerge on an iron-rich, altered limestone matrix, with crystal sizes spanning from 1.5 to 3 cm. While larger crystals exhibit a gem-like quality, the smaller cubes tend to become cloudy and opaque. Many crystals showcase intricate color bands, alternating between yellow and lavender, with some crystals displaying up to 16 discernible bands.
Drusy cream Calcite overgrowths are a common sight, and sporadically, upturned sprays of opaque, off-cream Calcite crystals form an assortment of splayed crystals, reaching up to 8 cm.
