Fluorite-Hidden Forest Pocket, Diana Maria Mine, Frosterly Weardale, Co. Durham, England
Hidden Forest Pocket of the Diana Maria Mine was discovered and extracted in June 2021. Named for the stunning shades of forest green that were kept hidden by a thick crust of rusty brown calcite. This pocket is known for a mirror like luster that is attributed to the calcite protecting the fluorite. This pocket is also known to show bright royal purple to inky violet in daylight fluorescence.
This specimen features another noted crystal characteristic of the pocket; galena. The shiny pops of silver add to the overall uniqueness of the shape and flow of this specimen.
